AOTP is probably not dead

I saw this on Reddit and also got a lot of hope, but then I noticed this is from Q1, first quarter.

I talked the owner of my local gaming store into stocking it. He won't do it again because it cost him more to buy it than people can buy on Walmart and Amazon. He made pennies on the master packs and lost dollars on the Zendikar expansions he stocked. They would definitely sell more putting it in game stores, but Hasbro seems intent on letting it be a "big box" store item.

As a side note, the game ships from the "Hasbro Games" warehouses and not "WoTC" warehouses.

At these prices Amazon is clearing the decks. The only product in the line that is holding any kind of ground is the second core set. I believe this game could still do well but it requires a rethinking of their marketing strategy.
As the saying goes, "If you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got."
Perhaps the next step is to sell sell blisters of popular characters and creatures featured in each new release of the MTG card game like you see with other card games. However, With these custom figures you would also get the unit card and a 2 or three spell cards for AotP. These should be non-random and cost the same as a booster pack. They would sell well to people who would like a figurine of their favorite MGT icon and gently entice them to the board game while at the same time providing the steady stream of new material that is the life's blood of the game.

Has there been any news on anything?? I love this game, and just hope it doesn't just die...

As I see it there are three possibilities right now.
1. They are skipping Kaladesh completely and waiting for Amonkhet. In a long term marketing strategy releasing the game along side the official TCG would create additional hype and interest in the game.
2. They are taking there time in creating a new base set that adds new mechanics to increase there design space, or change some fundamental rules of the game.
3. The game is dead.

I also really really hope they skipped Kaladesh & return with Amonkhet along with new designs, features & maybe even expanded the gamemechanics even further. I would love to see Gods as huge heros (or maybe even brandnew type :God) as the Eldrazi “Tower“.
I love this game. Cardgame is nice too.

Now, I've read it through carefully. I can easily assume that they are going to make more prodects, and I am very excited about this!

Thanks for sharing that, Critical. I was just thinking about emailing Hasbro... and I agree, from their response, it seems as if they ARE continuing production of the game; of course they have to answer that way. Any guess on what it'll be? Obviously, they can't keep up with the TCG, but how cool would vehicles be with a Kaladesh expansion?

I agree. The response seemed to be vague and not really pertain to your specific question making me believe that it was some sort of automated response. Sadly I do not think much information can be gained from the reply. My opinion is that we should wait and see if we get an Amonket expansion and if not the game is probably dead.
