As has been posted in other forums, Walmart.com has currently got two versions of Arena of the PlanesWalkers for sale. There is the regular version of the base game for $29.9x and there is another version that has some bonus items available for $24.9x www.walmart.com/ip/Magic-The-Gathering-Arena-of-the-Planeswalkers-Game/45824268There is an image provided that suggests the bonus items include extra hex tiles, more glyphs and extra cards. The glyphs may simply be extra copies of already existing glyphs. Extra pieces for a lower price is certainly interesting..... EDIT3: Every time I check the price, it seems to be different. on 11/6/15 price was $20.51 EDIT2: The price has changed, it is now the same price as the regular version. EDIT: As has been posted on BGG, the bonus content includes: Bonus battlefield scenario 5 premium foil-enchanted cards 8 bonus sand tiles 2 bonus glyphs The 8 tiles provice 20 additional hex spaces woth of Sand tiles - (1x 7hex)(2x 3hex)(2x 2hex)(3x 1hex) The Glyphs (1x ) (1x ) are just doubles of the ones in the original game. A Foil Card for each Planeswalker The battlefield scenario is an additional map that uses the new tiles.

Figures. And there is no way in hell my wife will let me buy this since I already own the regular set.
Would be nice to have some more of the actual board tiles, since the six it comes with aren't near enough IMO.
Which is why I made my own.
I still think it's BS that they decided to wait until January to release the first expansion.

1. Does anyone know if there will be a Walmart bonus edition for the 1st expansion, Battle for Zendikar? 2. Did the Walmart bonus edition of the original game release at that same time as the regular one or was it at some point later?
If there's a bonus Zendikar edition I'll wait for it, but if not, I want to snap up the expansion on day 1.
Thanks all!

The Walmart bonus edition of the base game seems to be available only through their web site, though it can be picked up with no shipping charge at your local store. The base game was first available through Amazon in July, and the in August it began showing up on retail store shelves. Walmart had and has the base game available. At the end of October, Walmart also started to show the bonus edition on the website. I do not expect Battle for Zendikar will have a bonus edition.
When HeroScape was first produced, Walmart had an exclusive bonus edition of the base master set available for a period of time. In that case, the bonus was an extra squad of figures. Walmart never had any other bonus editions.
Also for HeroScape, ToysRUs had an exclusive terrain set (Lava tiles). No other outlet ever sold the Lava. ToysRUS also had a giveaway of a promo figure that was also a GenCon promo figure. Later on, ToysRUs also had exclusive figures (called Flag Bearers). There were no other Bonus or Exclusives that I am aware of.

Targanth,
Got it, thanks. I bought the base set and am picking up the Walmart bonus edition Friday. At $20, if they release a bonus one later I'll pick it up also. Given the tendency for a certain segment of the MTG CCG community to salivate over foil anything, I'd be surprised if they didn't cash in on that with each expansion. But due to their very different approach to this game, it does look like they'll follow the Heroscape model of set release and exclusivity. I'm fine with that too.
Thanks for the info.

Hey all! I just picked up my Walmart edition yesterday and wanted to make a few notes: 1. You get the foil planeswalkers IN ADDITION to the regular ones. So you can play with the regulars and keep your shiny guys pristine. 2. The actual packaging of the minis is different. In the regular one, the larger , , and creatures stand up in between cardboard pieces. In the Walmart one, the entire package is the molded type where the pieces snap into place. 3. The extra terrain and runes are awesome. I have never played Heroscape, but could see how it could get addicting. We've already come up with some great boards. I'll try to share some when I'm able.

I bought my standard AotP set at Wal-Mart, and it had a plastic tray the minis fit in.
