I have recently discovered a strategy that works amazingly well at getting Planeswalkers dead very quickly. I figured I'd might as well post my findings.
Army cards:
Sorin (350)
Avacyn, on Bloodied Wings (100)
Kor Aeronaut Captain (100)
2x Kor Hookmaster (40)
Spell Cards:
Corpse Lunge (10)
Harrowing Journey (25)
Stone Will (20)
Angel's Mercy (15)
Survive the Night (10)
Seize the Initiative (10)
Chaplain's Blessing (20)
Solemn Offering (25)
Swift Justice (5)
Healing Salve (10)
Tenacity (10)
Hope Against Hope (20)
The gameplan here is simple; Use the rediculously high and move of the Kor Aeronaut Captain to seek and destroy the enemy Planeswalker. KAC ignores elevation, water, and gets a substantial movement bonus when flying to lower terrain. Park him next to your opponent on turns 2/3 (on higher elevation, if possible) and engage the enemy Planeswalker. If they manage to inflict damage on him, simply heal him up and continue to destroy them. Once he has landed on his target, there isn't a single figure in the game that can escape him without use of other cards. Cards like Unsummon don't work on him, so Jace is not nearly as effective as he usually is. Chandra will have to use her combo to efficienly deal with him, so Sorin won't be in any immediate danger. This strategy is also playable with Gideon and Nahiri, but I believe Sorin is the best choice because of his ability to heal himself and make multiple attacks in a turn. Avacyn is here for strictly defensive purposes, or as a backup Voltron if need be. The Kor Hookmasters could be replaced with a different creature, but they buy Sorin a turn to deal with any Squad creature that comes for him, allowing him to land the first blow.
TL;DR
Advantages:
Fast.
Hard to deal with.
Very forward thinking.
Immune to a decent amount of Jace's tricks.
Easy to pilot.
Ignores obstacles.
Disadvantages:
If KAC dies, it's nearly always game over.
Leaves Sorin more or less unde fended from a multiple figure attack.
KAC only gets a single attack in every turn.
Probably others.
So, what do you think? Am I on to something here, or is this only useful for my meta? Thanks for taking the time to read!
