Hello everybody. I need help getting clarification on this army card's ability. For ease and reference, I will state it below. Followed by my concerns, thoughts and questions. "Each non-Zombie creature within 2 clear sight spaces of any Blighted Reavers gets -2 ( )." So let's start with scenarios, to propose questions and concerns. Scenario 1. I play them with Malakir Bloodchasers, which are vampires. Clearly, the text would mean that my own zombies have now reduced my vampire's because their not zombies. My concern is towards the creator's intentions. Would it make more sense to be stated as "Each opponents non-Zombie creature..."? Scenario 2. (The big one) My opponent has a creature within 2 clear sight spaces of all three Reavers. Does my opponent now receive a -6 ? The ability, to me, seems unclear or not specified enough. Per example of the Rhox Veterans, the word "each" is used twice in the sentence to clearly state that they could potentially have a +2 . In addition, against the Eldrazi Ruiner, I could park all three Reavers 1 space way from the Ruiner, and stand another creature on 1 glyph, now giving the Ruiner a -8 and it rolls 0 defense dice against adjacent attacks. My thought on this is primarily, that I want to be playing it correctly. If that seems the consensus intentions, I would like to know. Personally, that seems to be a bit overpowered. But, if that's how it is to be played, I can work to counter or handle it. Thank you for your time and thoughts.

I've always played the reavers does affect their own non zombie teammates. Also that the does not stack and is simply a -2 regardless of how many reavers are within two spaces. That seems to be the way the text on the army card reads.

I appreciate it nerddad. The text seems that way to me, too. I just looking for something a little more definite. Or at least a consensus. I found another forum, where they discussed the -2 in the fashion you mentioned. So I atleast have two people going in the same direction. On their affect on their teammates. It is clear to be that way. Just seems.. bunk.. to me. As though, I'll only put them in an all zombie team. With all the armies being of range 1, they'll likely end up in close quarters together. They must smell really bad.

I agree that it would affect friendly creatures. It's a pretty common thing in MTG for spells and creatures to have effects that can hurt them as well. Suicide even used to be its own deck archetype. Nerddad was also correct about the -2 not stacking. I know the question's already been answered, I just figured it might be helpful to have some more backup. And for the record, I don't smell rotting flesh too often in my life, but I can't imagine we're missing out.

I appreciate it too, KingoDingo. Yeah, I see what you're saying with the suicide . I just wanted to make sure I'm doing right. I definitely want the extra chime in. I game with my wife, siblings and cousins. So with ~10 people, we get just as many interpretations on somethings. So I like to be as clear as possible, or with as much of a consensus as I can have. Lol. Yeah, I doubt that we're missing out.

I've never had any trouble pairing the reavers with non zombie teammates. You just have to pay attention. Their doesn't affect planeswalkers, so no issue keeping them near your walker. They do pair amazingly with the ghoul vanguard since you can activate him and one zombie squad creature on his turns. The reavers are far and away my favorite creatures.
