There is a new section coming to the forum, and a few thing will be reorganized into it. This will make it the complete gaming resource for those who only lurk or guests and wish to see game resources in one single area, called "Mana Vault". Once complete, Mana Vault will look like this: I have restricted access to the rest of the forums within Mana Vault, since is the only one close to being done. Mana VaultIt's a test bed of sorts to see what the community thinks should be added to it or changed. Each entry will have official errata and rulings from hasbro, as well as a strategic and tactical overview. The game resource forum will be filled with user created materials, as well as links to other sites to find relevant stuff. Thats what I have in store, for sure, in each entry. But I need your active feedback on how to improve this. Give it a look over.

Yawgmoth, this is a huge undertaking and should be a worthwhile addition to the site. Thanks for taking the time and effort for this. In looking at the example for that you have provided, one thing that jumps to mind is that the structure of Spells, Armies and PWs will all intermix together once posts begin to be added to any of the topics. I am wondering if (for example) in Volrath's Stronghold there might an index to more quickly locate a specific card/army/PW? I'm afraid it would be a lot of extra work to break the Stronghold topic into 3 subtopics, one for each Card/Army/PWs. It looks OK with just the three sets, but since I am hoping there will be more sets forthcoming, it might become more of a challenge to locate topic.

Good suggestions.
I was hoping to avoid an index since each section is basically an index itself. For example, one could scroll through the page to find the entry they need, or they could hit an index...then scroll through that page to find the entry that they need. On the surface, this seems redundant. But, different people like different approaches, and making an index is easy.
3 subtopics would be just as easy to institute as well. In fact, incredibly easy to divide these that way.
Going forward, it may be necessary to do that with the potential amount of content to be seen.

If 3 sub-topics is really easy to do, I think that might be all that is needed. I was guessing that the sub-topics would add a lot of work to the project. With the way that you have divided everything by color, at this time an index is probably not needed.

This is a great idea, thanks. A long as you create one sticky index thread per forum that has organized listing of cards and spells and army ideas by point cost, with links to each thread, you do not need separate sub-furums, and honestly making and keeping the index thread should not be that hard - I volunteer to make at least one color index and I am sure we can get other volunteers to help, and once created they only need updated after new sets come out. That index thread can have listings organized by name, point value, and set so that people can find easily.
What we really need is a spreadsheet or online card catalog database, and I know some people have already started this, but maybe if I get that much in the mood I can make a Google sheet for such as I have done for Heroscape.

Ok. Index it is then. Consider it done. I have time off tomorrow afternoon that I can implement these and see if that meets consensual approval of members.
I desperately want to make an army builder type of program. I'm sure if given time I could do this for the lone wolf army builder program, but I would rather not make people buy the software in order to get access to that function.
That's the one thing I think the community at large desperately needs. But even that has a limited audience.

The inclusion of Sorin in the index is a nice touch. Especially since it states the multicolored nature of the card. One question though: Would it be possible for a multicolored card entry to be in more that one place at a time? For example, could Sorin be in both the and forums simultaneously, and still have the same content? Or it it just easier to contain multicolored cards in the Lotus Vale, and then be directed to the entry via the index? One suggestion I have is to meld threads that pertain to a single topic to the relevant card entry if possible. This way questions and answers for a certain card would be easier to find.

Sadly, I have not been able to make an entry exist in two places at one time, after looking into it. Good idea though. So yes, its easier to lump any multicolored cards into the Lotus Vale.
I think once the Mana Vault is complete, I will see if I can move targeted threads into each relevant entry.
Question to everyone: Are the names that I am using too obtuse for the casual viewer? I am attempting to tie this board in as thematically as possible to the mtg game, hence the naming trend for certain things.

Question to everyone: Are the names that I am using too obtuse for the casual viewer? I am attempting to tie this board in as thematically as possible to the mtg game, hence the naming trend for certain things. As a former M:tG player, I appreciate the nod to Magic in the naming. I think the casual viewer might be a bit confused by the names, but after they look up the names with a simple google search, it should make sense. But I'm not a casual viewer without knowledge of M:tG lore, so take that with a lump of salt.

We'll give the index for each section a chance to see if users find this useful first to see how it works. If demand proves necessary, I'll add subfurums.
I'm likely to absorb the battle arena into the Mana Vault, since they are both resource based content.

Battle Arena has been absorbed in the Mana Vault. Currently moderating threads and moving them to appropriate sections. Threads that are specific to a certain spell or army card will be moved to their entrys as soon as their entrys are completed. I cast an obliteration spell on the heroscape subforum, before moving one single thread to general discussions, since it is by far the least used portion of this site and there is a perfectly great site to go to for that.
Not sure whether to leave the Mana Vault above or below Mishra's Workshop (formerly creative arena). I guess it doesnt matter too much, so I think I may leave Mishra's Workshop above the Mana Vault for visibility's sake. Though I am curious to hear opinions about that.

A small issue has asrose when moving posts to the relevant entries.
If the posts were made before the card entries were made, then the posts prior to the card entries float to the top of the card entry post.
The forumware is not strong enough to fix this, so the only solution I can think of is to qutte the entire thread, post by post and make a post in the card entry to reflect the discussion. (See: Arlinn Kord in general rulebook discussion and her entry for example)

Here is an interesting bit of trivia concerning this site: Since the release on Innistrad late June, the numbers here have sextupled. So if one is wondering about the health and interest of the game, these numbers might provide some indicator on a microcosm at least regarding consumer interest. It seems those steep sales at Target are only helping get the word out. We are averaging over 1Khits a day, often twice that in comaprison to 3 moons ago when it was a quarter of that on the better days and a sixth of that on the worst days.
