If you had trouble picking out the figures names from the box art I believe it says. Avacyn Necro-Alchemist Ghoul Vanguard Mad Prophet Jace Sorin Nahiri Arlinn Arlinn (Werewolf something)
Trust me, I am only too happy to eat my words

I am happy to see this. Very happy.
So we are going to get characters that play a significant role in the set... I am o.k. with this. I understand that we already have Jace, but this set is called shadows over innistrad, and including him in this box does make sense. Especially if its a stand alone.
My best guess is that we get a small expansion (like Battle for Zendikar) shortly after this set. Liliana and Tamiyo will be the two new planeswalkers with some added eldrazi.

I really hope we get a small Eldritch Moon expansion. I hadn't even considered the possibility. The way things have been going I expect a small Kaladesh expansion and nothing from EMN. I hope I'm proven wrong. Getting Tamiyo and some Eldrazi would be amazing. That would also imply a large standalone Kaladesh, and I am so ready for lots of deck building and army building options.
Realistically, the TCG Kaladesh comes out in Oct, I think. I can't imagine them releasing Arena EMN by then. I think we might see Kaladesh in the winter, though. It'll have artifact units. THOPTERS!!

Welcome to the boards, smutteringplib! If the past is an indication, we will get an idea about an AotP expansion around late September with an availability date of January. For both of the previous sets Amaz*n has had them available about a month before any other retailers, so I expect that within the next 2 weeks the Innistrad set will show up.

in the new innistrad expansion we see the we will most likely be getting four heroes, if the box is the same size that means that we will receive two figures fewer in innistrad per planeswalker and one less planeswalker (if we receive 500 point armies). i do not think this will happen but as hopeful speculation, that means we will have seven figures fewer from lack of one planeswalker and eight more from having four heroes, that's a significant amount of extra space. we could see Emrakul. (and spawn) As further evidence for this, the box says "assembly required" and battle for zendikar is the only other set we saw had assembly required with Kor Aeronaut Captain and the Eldrazi.

Thanks for the welcome, I've been posting as a guest for a while and decided to finally make an account. The point I was trying to make about the expansions is that in the TCG, Battle for Zendikar is a large set, the equivalent of Shadows over Innistrad. We didn't get an Arena version of Oath of the Gatewatch, wich is the equivalent of Eldritch Moon. Following the pattern from last year, the January expansion would be Kaladesh, which will be released for the TCG in October, same as BfZ. The most optimistic I can make myself right now is that Kaladesh will be stand alone. However, I would LOVE to be wrong and see both a small Eldritch Moon and a stand alone Kaladesh.

Allow me to politely disagree with you're logic smutteringplib. Battle for Zendikar was a small set, BUT, when you combine it with the base game you get every major character that was involved in all of BFZ. Kiora, Ob Nixilus, the Gatewatch, and Eldazi.
Zendikar never really had iconic legendary creatures past planeswalkers and eldrazi. The legendary creatures from the first zendikar card set were mostly dead. And I can forgive hasbro for not rushing out the Eldrazi Titans because the eldrazi we got were good.
Compare that to the Shadows over Innistrad block. We would be missing Tamiyo, and more importantly Liliana. Omitting Liliana seems odd since they decided to give us a second Jace. If they wanted to do a small set afterwards, this would be a great way to do it.
Oh, give me one more board game set and I will feel compelled to join as well. Did not want to join a forum about a game that never made it.

Did not want to join a forum about a game that never made it. I really hope you're right. Having another expansion come out in the winter and then a big Kaladesh in early 2017 would remove sooo much doubt from me and many others. Release a new EMN expansion in November, have SOI and EMN well stocked in big box stores and run commercials; this game could become a huge seller. The rules are simple enough that kids can pick it up with ease, and with enough building options adult will stay interested. I feel like the only thing keeping this game back right now is Hasbro's tentativeness. A few people made the point on reddit that oil prices (and therefore plastic) are nearly half what they were during Heroscape's time. If they wanted to make a bunch of cheap terrain, now seems like the time. Also, making an account is pretty nice, doing the weird captcha thing as a guest is almost as much effort as making an account. But then you can just stay logged in.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a similar promo version with extra stuff like the wal mart version of the original stand alone game?

Does anyone know if there is going to be a similar promo version with extra stuff like the wal mart version of the original stand alone game? Hard to guess. I have not seen the Zendikar expansion on the shelf at wal*mart, only through the wal*mart online store. The base game bonus edition seemed to sell well, though I have seen the bonus pack still on the shelf a week ago. My real guess is that when wal*mart made the deal for the exclusive set, they did not know that Amaz*n was going to get it a month before anyone else. I suspect that cut in to sales of the regular edition for them. That may keep wal*mart from choosing another exclusive. The big retailers love to get something that no one else has as it often brings people into the stores. However, if the product stays on the shelves it can be a bad sign.

Here is one quote from the spoiler (thanks Jsanner2 ) Shadows Over Innistrad will be rolling into hobby shops and game stores in fall 2016, according to Hasbro. The 24 figures, eight dice, three awkward Lovecraft trees, 48 cards, etc. will set you back an MSRP of $29.99. I notice that the terrain is not sand color this time - shadows look to be the theme of the set.

Some tiles on the board have what looks like plant life or that they are scratched up anyway they are clearly different than the other spaces. Speculation? Necro-Alchemists abilities "Whenever you play a spell if there are fewer than 3 charge counters on Necro-Alchemist put a charge counter on Necro-Alchemist." "At the start of Necro-Alchemist's turn you may remove a charge counter from Necro-Alchemist. if you do Necro Alchemists gets +1 attack until end of turn." This is what i saw i may be wrong.
