just picked this up today from Walmart and read through the instructions... Getting ready to play with the wife but some things are unclear to me. Could use some help
The rules seem unclear and confusing to me in certain areas. It seems to me that the core rules makes references to game elements that are not actually included in the core game. It says so in the case of Unique Hero enchantments (that they "are not included in this set") but it doesn't mention that unique heroes themselves are not included either. Or Common army cards. Or common squad enchantments. It would be far less confusing if the core rules applied specifically to ONLY the core game elements and any addendums or variations to those rules should be relayed in the instructions included in the relevant expansions.
The first thing I am confused about is the nature of 'unique' army cards. When I summon, do I get all of the figures displayed on the army card? Or do I summon just one unit at a time? I'm guessing that you summon the 'squad' which would be all 3 figures shown on the card, and that when they are all killed then the army card is placed in the army card graveyard. But that seems extremely limited since each planeswalker has just TWO unique army cards. This makes the action of summoning feel pretty arbitrary, since the rules state that before action 2 of your planeswalker's turn you can summon UP to TWO squads..... So.. I on my first turnI can summon my army. All of em. Why wouldn't I? Why not just START the game with your armies??? I feel like I'm missing something important here.
Then there is the card 'cost.' The only clarification I could find on the spell cost and army cost is that it is the 'VALUE' of the card. Ok. The synonym doesn't really clarify anything. What is the significance of this stat? How/when is it used? I understand that the PPF Cost is used for scoring in certain scenarios, I'm talking about the larger number which precedes the PPF cost.
And then there is the d20. I have no idea what this is for and could only find reference to it in the 'game contents.' So ..yeah.. its included. Why?
I appreciate whatever you guys can help to clarify for me
