Spell deck overview:
I tried to stuff as many spells that buff the offense and defense as much as I could, and the spells reflect this. I would have liked to buff the defense a bit more, but I got Divine Favor and Blessing at least.
Dissension in the ranks is an assassination ploy using their own creatures. This should be used later in the game when an attack from their own creatures can give a decisive blow, but not so late that all their good creatures have been destroyed.
Burn from within punishes your opponents squad for even daring to move. This is a decent defensive tactic that will at the very least delay their progress.
Seize the day for that extra bit of whoop-ass you need to lay down. I find this works well mid game on Blazing Firecats, or even the Phoenixes if they have been buffed.
Stoke the flames is a weird buff, but with Nahiri's mobility, this should be a good spell.
Pyroclasm makes a creature into a guided atomic bomb. I prefer to target Phonixes with this one, since Phoenixes are fast, have minimal impact on your tactics when they leave, and they can come back.
Circle of Flame is very similar to Chandra's Outrage, with the key qualifying difference being that it targets 'figures' (so planeswalkers can be affected) instead of just creatures. You just have to make sure your figure has a wound marker first. Mid to late game spell. It works well with any figure in your army except Phoenixes, but Avacyn, Mad Prophet and Firecats are my usual targets.
Skillful Lunge is a great buffer that's really cheap. Since all squad creatures in this army have a range of 1, the utlity is broad. It has some restrictions, but for +2 and +1 range, they arent really noticable.
Army list overview:
Nahiri is about mobility and staying once she gets there.
Avacyn is a slightly delicate atomic rocket. It's a tough choice between her and the Kor Aeronaut Captain, but ultimately "the Madness of Angels" ability won out over the Kor. She has built in Pyroclasm. Just send her into the thick of things, and dont look back. It's why she has bloodied wings.
The Mad Prophet and the Blazing Firecats are your main guided missiles. Since you can summon two squads each turn, you have two potential hasted attacks at once to unleash on a very unlucky target. And if that target is a hero or Planeswalker, then the Mad Prophet will likely dole out punishment.
The Flamewing Phoenixes seem to be the most useful as glyph grabbers, or a guided missile in a pinch if you can spare the buff on them. Cheap throw away unit that can last awhile if you can keep one alive on the battlefield all game.
The Goblin Javelineers seem to be a workhorse for the army. Spread them out far and wide. Ping a creature once a turn for a nearly gauranteed 1 damage or more. These benefit from the defense buffs a lot since they are really offensive to begin with, but a bit fragile. They wont let you down if you look after them.
This army and spell deck does fairly well since it is so aggressive and can be difficult to dislodge.
It's main weakness, like any army really, is against . But the best strategy is to rush hard and fast, as is its purpose. You dont have time to sit there and ponder key moves like does with its tricks. Press the offensive and buff your missiles when the opportunity arises. With practice it even works against .
